I write because I have stories in my head that fascinate me and I hope they will fascinate others. I write because I love words, sentences, paragraphs, chapters, and stories. I use words the way a fine artist uses colors and paintbrushes, to create an experience for the reader. I want the reader to see things that they have never seen before, and to think of things they never thought of before. I want my readers to feel they are inside the story, feeling what the hero feels, learning what they learn and overcoming challenges together. I want the reader to care about the story.
I love to write action scenes. I want to create a sense of urgency and danger for the reader to feel. But I also love to create impressions of scenery that give a sense of scale, scope and history. And I want my characters to grow and change as the story progresses, not just the protagonist, but all the characters that the reader might be interested in.
I write for people who love to read. I write for people who want to get lost in new worlds, and fall in love with unique, interesting characters with a past, and a future. I write for people to contemplate the challenges my characters face and to root for them to make the right choices, and to root for redemption when they make the wrong ones. I write for people who love fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, action and adventure. Hopefully I write for you.
My career has been long and varied. I've worked construction on high-rise office buildings. I've managed multi-million dollar Information Technology systems, some that you probably use today. I graduated college with a degree in physics. I am an avid stargazer, fisherman, golfer and gamer. I've managed and published software periodicals and written dozens of software programs from games to graphics programs. But for the rest of my life, I intend to be a writer.
