Michael Simon is the author of the First Command trilogy and Extinction series. He hails from Saint John, Canada, where he works as a family physician to support his writing addiction. An avid science fiction and fantasy reader, Simon enjoys spinning new tales and going where no one has gone before. Michael has been a huge science fiction fan since the early days of Star Trek. After a brief, thirty-five-year hiatus to practice medicine, he returned to the fold, and his Extinction and First Command series have attracted readers all over the world.

He writes character-driven, action-packed stories that examine humanity’s place in the universe, immersing the reader in stories where imagination runs rampant and fantasy blends into reality. So that, for a brief period, one can forget about work and taxes.  

When not writing, Michael can be found on the rink playing hockey or following his favorite rugby team, the All Blacks.

Michael lives in Saint John, New Brunswick, on Canada’s East Coast, surrounded by his wife, Anne, and family.
