Podium Entertainment, known for championing emerging storytellers and independent authors, has officially published its 10,000th audiobook -- a major milestone for the independent press.

Los Angeles, CA (August 5, 2025) — Podium Entertainment, known for championing emerging storytellers and independent authors, has officially published its 10,000th audiobook -- a major milestone for the independent press.

The company is on pace to release well over 3,000 audiobooks in calendar 2025, outpacing the entire industry except for Penguin Random House and RB Media. Not only has crossing the 10k milestone placed Podium well inside the top ten largest catalogs in the industry, but based on trailing 12-month data from publishing industry data service Bookstat, Podium has also achieved the following:

  • 6th largest audiobook publisher in the industry based on unit sales in the past year
  • 3rd largest audiobook publisher based on both front list unit sales and new releases
  • #1 Science Fiction & Fantasy audiobook publisher based on front list unit sales
  • #2 Romance audiobook publisher based on front list unit sales

This 10k title milestone caps off a breakthrough year of expansion for Podium beyond audiobooks. In Fall 2024, the company launched previously self-published and independent authors into a traditional publishing model, selling their first list to brick-and-mortar retailers via Ingram’s Two Rivers distribution. The new program saw immediate success, culminating in Podium’s first-ever New York Times bestseller in print: Den of Vipers by K.A. Knight, which debuted at #4 on the Trade Paperback Fiction list earlier this year.

The first quarter of 2025 also marked a significant expansion in audiobook distribution for Podium, as earlier this year the company brought its acclaimed audiobook catalog to more platforms than ever before. Thousands of Podium audiobooks are now available across retail platforms including Audible, Spotify, Apple Books, Storytel, Audiobooks.com, Chirp, Everand, Libro.fm, Kobo and Bookbeat; and in libraries via OverDrive and hoopla. This broader reach reflects Podium’s continued commitment to expand the audience on behalf of the thousands of authors the publisher represents.

“We set out six years ago to take a small, niche science fiction publisher and build a data-driven, new-age publishing powerhouse designed to expand the market for emerging storytellers while simultaneously disrupting traditional publishing with a digital-first mindset,” said Scott Dickey, CEO of Podium Entertainment. “Now with over 10,000 titles in our catalog, superior data-driven IP tools, expanded all-formats proficiency, and world-class marketing and distribution capabilities, Podium is challenging the largest and most prominent publishers in the world.”

“The origins of Podium were always grounded in elevating emerging voices that the industry typically overlooked and publishing at a pace that serves both authors and their readers," added Podium’s Publisher, Victoria Gerken. “That commitment and dedication to supporting new, wide-ranging voices and emerging storytellers has never been stronger, but today Podium’s capabilities are vastly more developed and able to make a much greater impact than at any time in our company’s history.”

Podium’s model—digital-first, author-forward, and genre-driven—has made it a breakout success throughout the publishing industry, with a track record of discovering bestselling and award-winning talent across fantasy, romance, science fiction, mystery/thriller, and more. With a growing slate of audio, digital, and print titles, Podium continues to redefine what’s possible for independent publishing in the digital age by bringing new and existing talent to the market and helping authors scale their readership across all formats.
