Captain Russell Philips used to terrify enemy fleets. These days, he runs his ship from a holo-projector, hiding a prosthetic arm from a near-death "accident", and has a gnawing suspicion that someone on his crew wants him dead. When a mysterious employer offers a high-paying mission to retrieve an ancient artifact from a dead world, it looks like the mission's payday could finally set things right.
